Numerous activities and thoughts leads us to this question which has been asked by humans for thousands of years in an ever expanding awareness of consciousness. In the modern era, when there is more time for reflection and social interaction, this question has come more and more to the forefront. I often wonder if the most profound generation to private ask this question were soldiers coming back from World War II - who experienced the horrors of war, abject fear, possibly killing other humans and killing them in an extraordinarily brutal fashion to survive. They performed a duty but does performing this 'duty' give us cover for our actions? Or is that who we really are?
Yes, this is the most stark and raw of possible questions dealing with war, combat, duty and person. But the world has just recovered from a global 'pandemic' whereby the most severe lockdown requirements for work, social activity and society pushed most people to get to basic fundamental questions of life.
