“Showrunners Insight: “Pachinko’s Soo Hugh & Tehran’s Alon Aranya”

“Tehran” was a great show (shot in Greece for Tehran) and had some very nifty twists and turns. The show was highly personal with an Israeli spy performing a mission in Tehran. With current tensions ratcheted up high, this plot is terrifingly relevant in today’s world. Good article on the Showrunners.

“Pachinko” was an excellent show, dealing with a great dynamic and chaotic painful period of Korea’s history with its occupation by Japan. I really felt for the characters.

“The French Connection turns 50: Hackman, Friedkin reveal why it’s a miracle no one died.”

It’s the heart-stopping moment when a bashed-in Pontiac LeMans hurtles beneath NYC’s elevated subway at 90 miles an hour, dodging traffic and pedestrians in a wild race to keep up with a hijacked N train rumbling overhead. That five-minute sequence — a crash course in ‘70s guerrilla filmmaking — is now regarded by many to be the best movie car chase of all time. 

This movie was one of the most awesome experiences in cinema. The film changed cinema to the gritty, handheld sense of realism in American cinema which was previously confined to the studio backlots.
